Breadfruit Curry

Ingredients

  • 100g of dried breadfruit
  • 1 tsp of turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp of curry powder
  • 2 green chillies
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • 1 cup of coconut milk
  • Mustard seeds
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Chilli flakes
  • Curry leaves

Method

  1. Soak the breadfruit pieces in cold water for 5 minutes.
  2. Wash and drain.
  3. Add enough water to cover the breadfruit and start cooking.
  4. Add turmeric, salt, curry powder, green chilies, and cardamom. Cook for 10 minutes.
  5. When half cooked, add coconut milk. Continue cooking under low-to-medium flame for another 5-6 minutes until Breadfruit pieces become soft.
  6. Temper with mustard seeds, onion, garlic, chili flakes, and curry leaves.
